The Gunnery Post

A Gunnery Post.

We used the Torry Point Battery to showcase some new pieces by Post Overalls, Orslow and Trickers. The Artillery Battery was built in 1859 and housed two Armstrong 200 pound guns, of which the iron support workings can still be seen. During World War I, the battery was permanently manned, when it was used as a training facility. In World War II anti-aircraft guns and searchlights were added to the Battery for use against attack by dive bombers, and from ground attack in the event of an enemy landing. Plans are currently being developed to consolidate the Battery structure to ensure the preservation of this richly historic Aberdeen landmark.
