The GIGI

This is the new-born project of Pierluigi (Gigi) and Mario Boglioli. Pierluigi was born in 1957 in a family of tailors, and he grew up among jackets, suits and fabrics. His father and his eldest brother Mario founded the Boglioli factory in 1972. At the age of 18, Gigi started his career in the family shops as a salesman, but soon his passion for research, creativity and style led him to join Boglioli creative team. In 1990, Pierluigi intuitively understood the need of a change in the conservative tailoring by deconstructing the jackets and presenting garments without canvas, shoulder paddings, roll paddings and linings. Then in 1999, he came up with the idea of garment dyeing tailored jackets, even if they were made of pure and very expensive cashmere. The TINTO IN CAPO jackets were invented making an important breakthrough in the menswear panorama. Gigi is proud of what was done in the past, but he believes that today is necessary to look ahead. His motto, DON’T LOOK BACK, is stitched in all his creations. He would like to be known as the one that is able of catching the needs of changing times, being once again, one-step ahead. This is THE GIGI’s challenge.
